Legends of the Astral System

CHAPTER 9. Sinister plot

Shine started pressing Krog, insisting that he must have some weakness. Shine claimed to want to know the weakness so she may be able to help Krog overcome it. Shine, with the council of Primaries and the few remaining primaries were planning to kill Krog and take over.

Shine - Krog

Shine kept on insisting, stating she wanted to know Krog’s weakness so she may help him overcome it. After months of insistence, Krog finally gave in, he remembered the dragons at Prima had taught him so much, including the one and only weakness of the Dragons that may have passed down to Krog from his Dragon side. It was a metal called Zronium, Zronium when melted together with Granta, a common household compound used by the Mudders for cleaning purposes, resulted in a compound zirco-grant which was lethal to the Dragons when ingested even in very small quantities. It would ignite a chain reaction inside them killing them in a matter of minutes.

Krog felt like he could trust Shine, like really trust her with any and everything. He could trust Shine like he had never trusted anyone before. Shine was the friend, the confidant, Krog had never known he needed. He saw in Shine everything that was pure about the universe. Such purity, such delicacy, such splendor he had never before encountered. Having spent her life within the confines of the Grand Council, interacting mostly with the Mudders had kept Shine away from the corruption and indifference of the Primaries. The Primaries of Smetha at Dortha, since their integration with the Mudders had somewhat changed their ways being able to support a comparatively peaceful Primary society.

Krog was in love with Shine, this was a love he had never experienced before. The way Krog felt for Shine was the way the Dragons used to love. Dragons were a very loving and nurturing race. The Dragons believed in soul mates spending their whole lives, thousands of years with the same partner. The love stories of the dragons were some of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring love stories ever. This intimate passion of his ancestors burned inside Krog and Shine was the one responsible for igniting it. Krog was absolutely overcome with emotion whenever he would be with Shine. This he had never felt before. He felt Shine to be his soul mate. Like they were made for each other.

Shine now knew Krog’s only weakness and insisted on knowing more. Krog told Shine that the Dragons had developed sensory system and a superbly effective immune system. Allowing the most powerful of them to smell and identify poisonous substances from a distance. Even if ingested in small amounts, their immune systems had developed a strong resistance to the compound. Shine and the Smethans now knew Krog’s weakness. They knew the poison they needed, now they just needed to figure out how to administer it.

Krog was living his best life. He had never before felt happiness, he had never felt a sense of belonging. Meeting Shine had changed Krog’s perspective of life, turning him into a benevolent King, much like the Dragon Kings and Queens of the past. Shine was on a mission, Krog was nothing to her, he was just an invading force that Shine would employ every tactic in her arsenal to defeat and repel. Shine felt a burning hatred towards Krog and all he represented. Although some part of her did fall desperately in love with him, for the Astral system had never seen such a mighty warrior, such an unstoppable conqueror before.

Shine was always in constant contact with the remaining primaries, relaying to them Krogs daily activities, his plans, his ambitions and most importantly, his one and only weakness. The primaries were busy, gathering the supplies to manufacture the poison and coming up with a plan to administer it. They wanted Shine to administer it so even if Krog found out, they would deny any involvement and blame the whole thing totally on Shine. But that was never going to happen, whenever he was with Shine, he would be too focused on her to pay attention to threats. He would always have all his guards down whenever he was with Shine. Since the moment he was born, he had been hiding and running, trying to become the strongest to ensure his survival. Meeting Shine, Krog had finally felt safe, being in the presence of Shine inspired a feeling of safety and security in Krog, never before had he ever felt safe.

Deep down, Shine did feel guilt for betraying Krog, he was the only one who had really loved her. The primaries had always considered her kind of an abomination and kept her hidden, locked inside the Grand Council Halls. The Smethans promised Shine the throne after she had poisoned Krog and that seemed too good of an offer to deny. Shine was committed, dedicated to taking down Krog and establishing herself in his place. It was during this time that Shine discovered that she was nurturing inside her a baby, Krog’s seed. Krog, thanks to his insanely heightened senses had sense the mew life inside Shine since day one but had kept it to himself so as not to ruin Shine’s surprise upon discovering herself.

Shine, being the naïve idiot that she was, had vastly underestimated Krog. She had failed miserably in comprehending the full range of powers and abilities that Krog possessed, she had been so busy in trying to find out his weakness, she had never really tried to learn about his strengths. She had imagined Krog as a savage, an animal, a lower lifeform, a gorilla on a rampage that needed to be put a stop to. Shine and the Primaries had devised an elaborate plan to host a Grand dinner in Krog’s honor. It was at that dinner that Shined poisoned Krog with her own hands.

Shine’s betrayal had broken Krog, he felt alone once again, like he had felt the first time he had crawled out of his egg. In moment of despair and utter desperation, Krog dug deep into the Surface of Dortha, presumed dead, never to be seen again.

Meanwhile:

The Dragons had been quick to start the rebuilding of MP-Z. They didn’t want the new generation to be born to the ruins of MP-Z. The newly efficient Razor army was extremely effective at helping the Dragons rebuild at an astonishing pace. Prima was also under the direct control of Krog, with the Razor armies maintaining constant strict control of the planet. The mining activities of Nora had been halted indefinitely and Prima was being prepared as the next stronghold for the Dragons.

Krog’s death left the Razor armies in disarray. The Razors had reverted back to their original, erratic nature. Instead of an organized structured army, the Razors were now savages and ravagers once again. The demise of Krog had severed the mental connection with which Krog controlled the Razors and they were now free to do as they pleased. The remaining Primaries of Smetha at Dortha confined themselves to the Grand council Hall, looking towards the mudders for help. At MP-Z, the Dragons were perplexed by the Razors, reversion back to their nature. They were not aware of Krog’s death, but they knew he was gone because he had, through the Razors, always maintained constant contact with the dragons at MP-Z and was the one controlling the Razors in the rebuilding efforts. With Krog gone, the Razors were running rampant and needed to be stopped. The dragons acted quickly to expel the Razors from areas of interest and repel them to more remote locations on MP-Z.

The Mudders at Dortha had been successful at repelling the disorganized, erratic Razors from the population centers of Dortha, but the damage done seemed to be irreversible. With Razors running rampant all over Dortha, the primaries of Smetha were confined mostly to the fortified, walled capital city. Relying heavily on massive numbers of Mudders for protection. Remaining primaries all assembled within the Grand Hall, still under the leadership of Primary-supreme, Shine’s father was now lost, hopeless. They now had nothing. Although they had killed Krog, the destruction done had been irreversible. They were powerless, exhausted and on the verge of extinction.

With the Razors on the lose there was nothing they could do. The only thing standing between the Primaries and the Razors were the Mudders. Shine had a plan. She planned to use the weapon, Krog’s child, growing inside of her to not only rule over the Primaries and Dortha but the whole Astral system. With Krog gone and the threat defeated, the Primaries had demoted Shine back to her original status as an abomination and side-lined her as a nobody. Although the primaries had demoted Shine as a lower specie, she still enjoyed all the privileges entitled to her as daughter of Primary-supreme. Shine lived as comfortably as any primary could on Dortha. Shine was just waiting. It was just a matter of time before the Primaries would find out that Shine was pregnant. She had thought that upon learning of her pregnancy, the primaries would come to respect her and consider her equal to them. But the primaries remained indifferent.

Far too blinded by their arrogance, the primaries couldn’t comprehend the possibilities of having such a powerful ally and weapon on their side. They considered Shine’s unborn child to be even more of an abomination that Shine was and insisted she get rid of it and terminate the pregnancy, the sooner the better. Shine had to beg to keep the baby, accepting to limit interaction with the primaries to a minimum if she planned on keeping the baby. Shine was assured a safe haven within the confines of the city, with abundant Mudders to guard her and her baby if she agreed to stay out of the affairs of the Primaries and keep the baby hidden. This special privilege was afforded to Shine only because she was the daughter of the Primary-Supreme.

Shine was still planning on taking over. She just needed to wait for the birth of the baby, then she will be in possession of the most powerful weapon in the entire Astral system. As the baby was about to be born, Shine had planned a swift and decisive take over. She had already alerted her personal Mudder security detail about her plan, warning in advance to move out of her way. Shine had her baby under the care of other Mudder mother in the traditional Mudder ways, the elder female mudders helping and taking care of Shine during the final stages of her pregnancy and child birth. The birth of Samet had been more painful than anything Shine had ever experienced. She was still determined to wield her weapon though.

Upon holding Samet in her arms and looking in his eyes, something changed in Shine. Samet was no longer a weapon, he was Shine’s son and Shine had instantly fallen in love with him. This seemed to her like the most beautiful creature she had ever seen. Shine now decided to stay and raise her baby. She was perfectly content with having nothing but her baby with her. This was a kind of love and compassion Shine had never felt before. The motherly instincts that Shine had inherited from her Mudder mother had kicked in and taken over Shine’s chemistry. Shine had found her true purpose in life, to love and raise her baby, her love, the only thing she cared for. Shine had forgotten all her old ambitions and her sole focus now was her baby, Samet, the most perfect creature she had ever laid eyes upon.

Shine’s pregnancy had been an especially painful one. Inside the womb, as a fetus, Samet’s conscious had started developing and he started remembering all the memories of his ancestors. He had tried to fight and escape but couldn’t seem to use his any of his powers. He had absolutely no control over his body. Although he could feel his, barely developed, frail limbs, he couldn’t seem to use them. None the less, he had decided to eradicate and destroy any single being he encountered, Mudder, Primary, Razor, regardless. Being born had somehow reset his memory and his Mudder instinct had kicked in. It was like he was any normal, loving child. As a newborn, though he had beautiful dragon eyes, heightened senses and abilities, he didn’t seem to possess any dragon or Razor or even Primary powers.

Samet was the perfect union of King Krog and Shine, beautiful yet lethal. For the first few years of his life, Shine raised Samet like any other loving mother would. Samet also loved Shine for she was all he had ever known. The primaries had almost forgotten about Shine and the baby, focusing instead on their own petty plans and Schemes. Shine and Samet were kept safely hidden away within the walls of the Grand Capital city in a Grand council compound constantly under heavy guard by Mudders. The Primaries kept Mudders to guard the walls of the city against the Razors and the Mudders were the only thing between them and the Razors.
