Legends of the Astral System

CHAPTER 3. THE PRIMARIES REVOLT

Primaries Krog

Although the entire Astral system was prospering and advancing, Prima itself had never seen such peaceful and calm times before, the primaries were supremely jealous of the Dragons. The Primaries considered themselves to be the most superior race and as such the thought of them being ruled by the Dragons was eating at them from the inside. The wanted to be the rulers, the deserved to be the rulers. The Primaries could not stand being ruled by the Dragons, a lower species than them, savage brutes. The thought of creatures made purely of matter ruling over a creature infused with light was a revolting one. The primaries wanted desperately to overthrow the rule of the Dragons and take over the whole Astral system for themselves. This was an empire far beyond their wildest imaginations, and they wanted it.

The Dragons had been keen to share most if not all of their advanced scientific knowledge and technological secrets with the species of the Astral system, but they had made sure to keep an effective control mechanism to deter any one from using the technologies in the wrong way by weaponizing it or using it other harmful ways. Under the rule of the Dragons, all creatures, including the Mudders and the Primaries were subject to the same laws and were treated as equal to the Dragons under law. The dragons were a wholistic and accepting society.

Primaries Dragon control

The Primaries were especially kept under strict check because their selfish and arrogant nature had become clear to the Dragons. The Mudders on the other hand had been given complete knowledge of and access to the most advanced technologies. They were also allowed access to interplanetary travel as per their own will and need. The primaries were not allowed access to interplanetary travel, thereby making them even more bitter and resistant towards the ruling race.

The primaries thus started working on a plan to overthrow the rule of the Dragons. The all united under the leadership of Zerk, a particularly snarky, scrawny and weak looking individual. Zerk had been born to a planet ruled by the Dragons. He had only heard stories about the freedom days. Zerk belonged to the Tesser faction, although the dragons had effectively eliminated all faction activities and integrated all the Primaries into a single united society, the primaries had still kept strict record of the original factions. Tesser used to be one of the biggest and most powerful faction before the rule of the dragons, but now seemed almost extinct. Zerk hated the dragons with all his being and was always taught that they were a lower life form ruling only due to dumb luck. Nothing to do with their intelligence or wisdom. Zerk dreamed of order being restored. The races back to their original places, with the Primaries on top, as the dominant species, as the rulers and all the other races under their command, befitting the natural order of things.

Zerk was an exceptionally sharp fellow by nature and his life experiences had made him particularly cautious and calculating. Zerk had been planning a revolt since as long as he could remember and had worked out every possibility. He knew with absolute certainty that there was no way the primaries would be able to defeat the dragons without external help. Attacking any of the Dragon command stations on Prima would prove to be an absolute disaster working instead to alert the dragons of the Primaries intentions of dominance. This would make the Dragons even more mistrusting of the Primaries further diminishing any future chances of revolt the primaries may get. Zerk knew that the only way to overthrow the rule of the Dragons would be to either totally wipe out the Dragon race or at least wipe out the Herculeans. The Herculeans were spread across the empire with multiple governors and a number of special envoys stationed at each planet.

Prima had the greatest number of Herculeans and the Herculeans were, in turn always surrounded by an elite army of the most powerful and intelligent dragons. Once a year all the most powerful and noteworthy Dragons would return to Motherland and gather at the Grand Herculean Palace where they would regroup and report to the All-powerful Herculean Queen. This annual event was the greatest reception in the entire Astral System. All the dragons would come to pay their respect and reassure their undying allegiance to the Queen. It would be the greatest feast, the Dragon throne’s splendor and majesty on full display in all its glory. With each passing generation the Herculean dragons grew stronger further cementing the Herculean throne. Now, the Herculean Dragon Queen was the most powerful dragon in history. Way more powerful than Queen Hercula had ever been and leagues ahead of King Lanber. The Queen stood more than 90 feet tall with a wing span 300 feet wide. The Queens black scales and burning wings commanded fear and respect across the far reached of the Astral system. Queen Aurora, the strongest descendant of the strongest dragon Motherland had ever seen.

Zerk knew that if he were to overthrow the Dragons, this would be the best opportunity as all the most powerful dragon elite would be gathered at one location. Zerk’s main problem was that any and all technology that could be used as weapons were kept far way from the reach of the Primaries. The primaries also had no access to interplanetary capable ships so they had no way of physically getting to Motherland. Zerk desperately needed a plan and he needed allies that could be of use. There was no chance that any of the Dragons, no matter how bitter they might be against the throne, would revolt, siding with the Primaries against their own kind was an unthinkable concept. The Mudders were totally in awe of the dragons and considered the Gods, worshipping them and obeying their every command. They wouldn’t even utter a negative comment about the dragons, let alone go against them in war.

Just as all hope seemed to be lost for Zerk, help arrived form the most unlikely of sources. During one of the grand speeches of the governors of Prima zerk had heard mention of Razors and how they were a savage race, bent on destroying anything they came across. The dragons had banished the Razors due to their cursed nature and wanted their fate to serve as an example to the primaries in the hopes that they would mend their selfish, arrogant ways. Since the banishment, most of the Razors went into hiding as they were effectively being hunted on Motherland. When the Interplanetary quests of the Dragons began, the Razors had been hitching rides on the Dragons ships. The Razors would jump and cling on to the outsides of the Dragons ships, trying their best to remain hidden from the dragons. The dragons, though diligent, hadn’t imagined the Razors would be able to hitch rides on top of ships surviving the vacuum of space. The Razor’s existence being made of fire, they were somehow impervious to the vacuum of space and a majority of them had thus succeeded in travelling to the other planets.

Zerk now had a plan. He needed to get the Razors on his side. With the Razors on his side, he might just be able to go against the dragons. But getting through to the Razors wasn’t as straight forward as it sounded. The Razors were not very smart; therefore, they couldn’t be relied upon to successfully execute a well-though out detailed plan. Zerk was running out of options and time was quicly running out. The dragons had found out about the Razors and how they had settled on neighboring planets. They were planning a massive interplanetary operation to hunt out all the Razors and eliminate them once and for all. Zerk knew he needed to act fast.

Zerk assembled a group of Razors and handed them a seismic repulsor. The Seismic repulsor was a device the dragons used to mine precious elements from a planets core. The device only needed to be operated on minimum capacity, anything above that could cause major damage to the planet. Once the device was put on a planet’s surface and activated, it would drill into the planet’s surface going through the mantle, until it reached the planet’s core. Once there, the device would emit a low frequency seismic repulse causing the planet to spew out its molten guts through the hole the device had entered. Zerk knew that if such a device were to be planted on Motherland’s moon and operated at maximum capacity, the intense vibration would act to knock the moon of its axis, in turn causing it to escape its orbit, inevitably crashing into the surface of Motherland.

Zerk now had some semblance of a plan and he hadn’t time to test it out or refine the details as the next Grand meeting was about to be held soon. Zerk set about putting his plan into motions, preparing the Razors the best he could. Zerk’s rag tag band of seven Razors, armed with the seismic repulsor thus hitched a ride on a dragon supply ship leaving for Motherland just as the Grand reception at Motherland began. Neither Zerk, nor any of the Primaries could be seen associating or interacting with the Razors, that would mean being answerable to the dragons. Zerk’s primaries had thus very secretly and quietly assembled what little Razors they could find and sufficiently control. Zerk plan now relied entirely on the Razors, which wasn’t very re-assuring for anyone. Zerk had instructed the Razors to jump off-ship, in the direction of the moon as soon as they came in sight of it. He had already set the device to its highest intensity and the Razors needed only to activate it with a simple push of a button.

All zerk and the primaries could do now was wait and hope the Razors would do as they were instructed. The Razors had almost forgotten about the plan and heading towards Motherland on top of a supply ship. Upon seeing the moon, one of the Razors had remembered their mission and jumped off ship, the seismic repulsor in his hands, in the direction of the moon. The vacuum of space coupled with his initial launch velocity and the moons gravity ensured his landing on the moon. Once on the moon, the Razor activated the device. As calculated by Zerk, the intensity of the vibrations was enough to knock the moon out of its orbit and send it hurtling down towards Motherland. By the time the Dragons saw it coming, it was already too late, the moon was hurtling towards them at a celestial pace. The moon shattered through Motherland’s atmosphere and slammed into its surface causing absolute devastation. There were apparently no survivors. The planet burst open, spewing its guts, losing a massive chunk of its mass to space. All the inhabitants of Motherland seemed to be wiped off instantly, or so thought the Primaries.
